Do I need to get screened?

What should I get screened for? This is a good question. Please schedule a telemedicine to discuss any clinical inquiries and to determine which screenings you should undergo.

How long will my results take?

Your results will generally be available in less than 1 week after you’ve shipped back your test.

Are at-home tests accurate?

Yes - and our labs are leaders in direct-to-consumer testing. In fact, they’re the same labs that physicians, hospitals and universities use (all CLIA and CAP-approved). The sensitivity and specificity of each lab test (aka the reliability of the results) can be found here.

How does the testing shop support folks with a disability or chronic illness?

Our goal is to be the easiest way to manage your healthcare, on your terms. That means making our services as accessible and user-friendly as possible. We are pleased to make customized accommodations that make using our kits, medication, or telemedicine services. Just email us at support@eztestny.com with your request or call/text us at 212-518-6900 and our Care Team will get in contact to help.

Do you take insurance?

We are not contracted with insurance companies at this time, although we are generally priced lower than the out-of-pocket costs associated with STD testing. We also take HSA/FSA and can provide a Superbill for you to submit to your insurance company.

What happens if I screen positive?

If you screen positive (or even if you just have questions), we’re here. You’ll schedule a telemedicine consult and our clinicians will walk you through your results, next steps – and prescribe medication for you and your partner(s), if appropriate. Note that for some STIs, TBD Healthis required by law to report a positive result to the applicable Department of Health.

Tell me about window periods.

Every STI has an “stealth phase” after transmission, when the infection is present in the body but at such a low level it can’t be picked up by tests. These are called ‘window periods’, and they’re different for every STD. Because of window periods, and because many STDs are often asymptomatic, it's important to get routinely screened.

When do test kits expire?

All test kits must be registered and returned to the lab within 5 months of purchase. In addition, unregistered kits expire after 3 months. Any samples that are delivered to the lab after this time will not be processed. We are unable to provide a replacement kit due to expiration.
